Annual Conference

The Storm

The theme took root in a simple truth: growth often begins in darkness.

Seeds push through soil under pressure, just as students rise through challenge.

We asked: what does it mean to plant with purpose?

Symbols That Speak

When proposed budget cuts threatened to eliminate GEAR UP—a federal initiative that plants seeds of college readiness in low-income communities through tutoring, advising, and scholarships—we knew this design had to do more than inform.

It had to inspire. In a moment of uncertainty, we sought to create a symbol of resilience, a reminder that even in the darkest storms, the work of nurturing dreams must go on.

Planting the Seed of Opportunity

Every element in the artwork carries a whisper of meaning:

  • A seed, full of quiet potential

  • A hand, offering care and intention

  • A plant, echoing rural roots and fresh starts

  • A book, unfolding with knowledge

  • Buildings, rising from cities with promise

  • A sun, ever-present with hope

  • A gear, turning toward progress

  • An arrow, steady in its direction

Inspired by stained glass and maximalist art, the style honors the idea that from fragments, something whole can emerge. Like community. Like change. Like us.

Planting Seeds

A hand holds a seed. Not flashy, but full of power. The design invites the viewer to pause, to feel, to remember even in the hardest seasons, we plant anyway.
